Choosing the right wedding venue in Brighton or Sussex (or elsewhere) can be one of the most time-consuming aspects of your wedding plans. The choice can seem overwhelming: there are small intimate wedding venues, unusual wedding venues, unique wedding venues. Added to this you may specifically want an Indian wedding venue or a Civil Ceremony venue. You may want to look at castles, stately homes, country house hotels, the list is endless.

Both Sussex and Brighton have a plethora of wedding venues covering every requirement you may have. These can cater for either the wedding ceremony itself, the wedding reception or both.

Here are some hints for finding the perfect venue:

1) Draw up a list of what is important to you in a venue – feel free to be specific (eg size of room) or abstract (eg warm feeling).

2) Write a list of potential venues – you’ll need to check whether they’re available, and of course you’ll want to visit to check it out.

3) Chat with the staff and see if you instinctively feel comfortable with them.

4) If you can, be flexible with the date – this could often save you money!

Without doubt one of the most popular sections of the Sussex Wedding Guide is the Wedding Photographers section. I’ll keep this relatively short as Paul Demuth has already written us an excellent article on finding the right wedding photographer for your big day.

There is of course a reason that wedding photography is so big – the competition is fierce because everybody wants their wedding day recorded as best as they can. I know my mum still loves the occasional trawl through her wedding photo album over 50 years later!

The most obvious one is that  professional wedding photographers know how to make ladies look beautiful and men look handsome. It really is advisable to work a professional wedding photographer into your budget no matter what your budget is.

Wedding Dress Hire

Wedding dresses hire makes a lot of sense, particularly if you are on a tight budget; after all, it could be that you’ll never actually wear your bridal gown again.

You’ll find that wedding dress hire shops offer the same excellent choice and range as wedding dress and that many shops will hire as well as sell. Also ,of course, you could find that hiring rather than buying results in being able to wear an expensive bridal gown rather than a cheap wedding dress. Or of course you might choose to simply spend the money you’ve saved on your honeymoon!

But remember to take your time and don’t be bewildered by the choice – a white wedding dress or a silver wedding dress? Ultimately it’s your wedding day so go with whatever you’re comfortable with.

Remember also that if you find your perfect dress but it’s not quite the right size, then you can ask the bridal shop if they can adjust it – often they can increase the size both out and up, up to 3 sizes, so don’t miss out on your perfect wedding dress just through not asking.

I was trawling through the internet earlier today, researching what search terms people were using for in the search for Bridal Wear and my findings made interesting reading.

Whilst you’d expect reams of white dresses, certainly in the Sussex area that we operate from anyway, there were loads of local brides-to-be searching for Indian Bridal Wear, Pakistani Bridal Wear, even Monsoon Bridal Wear. So whether you’re looking for cheap bridal wear or designer Asian bridal wear, we’ll be searching out the wedding suppliers to answer your needs over the next few weeks in this field.

Obviously every bride has their idea of what will be their perfect wedding dress, being the most important dress you’re ever likely to wear, so making an informed choice from a good range of wedding dress suppliers is the wedding service we’ll be providing you with right here at Sussex Wedding Guide.

Civil Partnerships

The Civil Partnership Act became UK law on December 5, 2005, allowing couples of the same sex  legal recognition of their relationship for the first time. It is not by default a Civil Partnership Ceremony, however – couples wishing for a Civil Partnership Ceremony need to get in touch with the registrars and ask if a ceremony is viable.

civil partnershipsIt’s worth noting that a same sex couple cannot enter into a civil partnership just anywhere. If you get in touch with your local registrars, they should be able to let you know a list of venues where  the Civil Partnership registration can take place.

There are presently 76 offices in England and Wales dealing with civil partnerships registrations. It’s also worth remembering that there are costs involved as well. At the time of writing, it costs you £30 (each) to give notice of your civil partnership and a further £40 to actually register. You will also need to meet the costs of the registrar attending and of course the Civil Partnership Venue that you’ve chosen. And all that is before we even begin to think about other potential costs such as Civil Partnership Gifts and Civil Partnership Solicitors!

Hotel Wanted for Channel 4 Series!
